You would never know what was behind the blue metal door…a pop up restaurant! We ate a Scottish tasting menu in a steel yard on Saturday night. For a few weekends a year, this working steel yard is transformed into an eatery. Since it's outside (but covered) they had blankets for everyone to ward off the chill but it turned out to be a beautiful night.
When you first walk in there is this smoking log - it was fascinating to watch it burn from the inside and the air had this wonderful smokey scent.
The chalk board on the right shows your table assignment. We were table #2.
You are seated at a table with other people - we sat with some girls who generally kept to themselves but a nice trio chatted with us all night. One woman was a professional nanny from New Zealand and her friends were a couple from South Africa who recently did a 2-year stint in the US.
Loved the plates…and that's our menu for the night.
We didn't take pictures of every course because we were busy chatting. This was the charcuterie board with pickled cauliflower and radishes.
One woman bedazzled her face with little stick on "gems".
Smoking section upstairs.
Bill went up for a mid meal cigar.
Chatting with the nanny.
Smoked haunch of venison.
This brought out all the cameras.
Mr. Dibley looks a little dubious. Maybe he is worried he's missing the deep fried mars bar by hanging out on the smoking balcony with Bill. The meal was delicious and the setting was completely unique. Another great night out.
