A lovely stroll through the park, with a side order of whinge

And Fletch thought we'd hit every park and pub in London.  Foolish Fletch.
I've never been to Holland Park, just around the corner from Notting Hill.  Saturday we rectified that.

Another beautiful weekend in London.  We could have worn shorts and been ok, although my ghost-like translucency may have scared the children.
Get off the busy road, head through the archway, walk up a manicured path and you're in another world.  Somehow the sounds of the street are blocked off and it feels like a walk in the English countryside.

Hmmm... how many mother's of young children are reading our blog... thinking about how sensitive to be .... oh, whatever, the kids are rubbish.  These kids are playing battle bots with the chess pieces.  Another princess scraped her knee and moaned as if she was saying a tearful goodbye to her leg.  Other little angels were chasing around the gorgeous peacocks that roam the grounds freely.
OK, that was my whinge.

As I said, these peacocks flutter about Holland park, looking good.
If I were to whinge one more time I'd say they border on being swan-like.  All looks, no substance.  They have a hideous cry and these birds have been domesticated to the point where they eat out of people hands.  Come on, peacocks!  You're better than this.

Dibley, not a fan of the peacock.
Mr. Dibley is a fan of Jen's sandwich, though.  She did not share.
Come on, Jen!  You're better than this.
But our little sandwich hog can dish it out.  Here she gives Miles a lecture.
 and tells an inappropriate joke.

Jen hiding behind a funny little planter.

Let me get back on the positive and praise the park again.
Lovely wall paintings.
 Beautiful flower.

Time to say goodbye for now, Holland Park.  Follow the statue of Mr. Holland to exit.  Don't touch him though, he's covered in poo.  Probably from those peacocks.  (darn, slipped into whinge-mode again)

On the way home Jen couldn't resist strolling down Portabello to the markets.  I decided to let her venture alone.  I watched this photoshoot for twenty minutes while Jen bought herself a little treat.  Win - win.
