Guernsey - Day One

Despite the fact that we are not in first class and are on a smallish and jumpy plane, Jen and Bill are all smiles as we head out for a long bank holiday weekend.

After a slightly delayed flight we arrived in Guernsey!!  This is St Peter Port.
After checking into our hotel we did our first walk about to get the lay of the land.  First stop was a local ale and a bite to eat at a terrace cafe overlooking the piers.

The streets are quite narrow but the drivers here do not seem concerned about that.  Bill was concerned that there wouldn't be enough shopping but the High Street and Old Quarter set him straight. He's already "on the board" with a new shirt.  I'll have to try to catch up tomorrow.  (Even shopping is a competition for me!!)

The taxi driver from the airport told us that most of Guernsey is flat with the exception of this area.  That's fine with me! The streets are so interesting how they wind around and have dark alley ways with stone staircases connecting them.  I think these shots could be from 2014 or 1914 or 1814...

At the top!  More tomorrow!
