Despite the date on the calendar, it didn't feel much like the 4th of July here but since I work a US schedule it was still a holiday. No BBQs for me though so I headed into London.
I started in Regents Park. Everything was in full bloom.
I went to Regents Park because I was headed here:
To see this!
But first - tea! I reserved a spot before the show. When I arrived, I had a table set all for myself. I got to chatting with some women at the table next to me who offered to take my picture.
Photography was not allowed in the theater but I was able to sneak this shot before the show started. The set was very crafty with a rotating stage and a wrought iron staircase. They had to condense the acts in order to fit it into a 2 hour play so there were some odd moments when the action deviated from the book which was a bit jarring but the key scenes and dialogue were all there. Lady Catherine Deburgh was played by Jane Asher - - probably not a name that our readers are familiar with but she is a British actress who was a long time girlfriend of Paul McCartney back in the 60s. I remember her from my days of Beatles obsession.
I ended the night at the Guardian Book Club Event at Kings Place with Ian McEwen!
I hope everyone had a happy 4th!!
