Today was Abelmann's big day out in London.
He started out in Bill's bag...
but it was such a beautiful day, he wanted to stretch his legs a bit.
The destination??
The Butterfly House at the Natural History Museum.
Abelmann LOVES butterflies!!
There were so many to see. This kaleidoscope of butterflies was loving the sliced oranges. A group of butterflies can also be referred to as a rabble or a swarm but I think kaleidoscope is the best term because there are so many colors….when they open their wings, that is. You can see a little of the amazing blue in the center of this feeding frenzy.
The brown ones above look like this when they are open:
We tried everything short of rubbing Abelmann with an orange peel to get the butterflies to land on him. Sneaking him under this one perched on a sign was as close as we could get.
Butterfly chysalises.
Abelmann had the most wonderful time. And it really made it extra fun to see the butterflies through his eyes.
Afterwards we took him out for tea in a little soho bookshop where he was quite popular. They asked if he had his own twitter account.
Abelmann ended the day doing a little people watching outside Liberty with Bill.
