We decided to do another overnighter this weekend so we booked a last minute room on the edge of the Cotswolds. We were very excited when we drove up the private drive and saw the doorway all lit up with candles....gorgeous!
Unfortunately, we had accidentally booked for the wrong night (Sunday night instead of Saturday!! Oops!) and they had no room for us. We started calling around, drove to another hotel and everything in the area was booked. Uh oh....
Then we remembered a place we stayed a few months ago that wasn't too far away. Lucky for us, someone had cancelled and we had a room. So we went from staying in a posh, candle lit hotel to staying at a B and B with these statues outside:
This is probably more our speed anyway. We were just happy to have a room and dinner in the cozy pub dining room.
The next morning we went for a little walk and a drive around the Cotswolds. A little stroll through Burford, lunch in Woodstock at the Bear Hotel pub, and a little shopping back in Oxford. Just another lazy Sunday in the country.
