Happy Birthday, Ann Maria

Saturday Night we met Jerry, Jules, Mike and Cat for a tapas dinner and then headed over to east London.  Probably the farthest east Bill and I have been - Whitechapel. The area looks a bit gritty but our destination was Ann Maria's birthday shindig at The George Tavern.  (Something tells me that the kids today don't call it a "shindig".)

If you ever want to feel old, go to a 27 year old's birthday party in an east London bar.
We sat right next to the band.  They were quite good actually, but they said they didn't know Happy Birthday To You.  Come on, boys, it won't be long before you are out of the cool club scene and playing at birthdays and bar mitzvahs so start learning the basics.
We only knew a couple people.  One, of course, was Hillary.

Another familiar face was Este who went with us to see King Charles III at the theater a few months ago.  Our camera was also full of a lot of unfamiliar faces….since Jerry took the camera and used it to take many many pictured of the various hot young girls in the bar.
Finally Bill and I couldn't stop ourselves from showing the kids how it's done.
Shake your groove thing, Bill!

We brought the cake and I was finally able to use the flaring cake candles I bought at Fortnam and Mason about 2 years ago. Everyone likes a bit of pyrotechnics now and again.

Shortly after the cake cutting the old folks caught the last tube home leaving the birthday girl and friends to party into the wee hours.
Happy Birthday, Ann Maria!  I hope 27 is your best year yet. xx

Isn't Whitechapel best known as home of Jack the Ripper? Glad you made it home safely...

PS More Ann Maria. More Jerry. Less Bill.
