Brooklyn Bridge

Are Bill and I the last people to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge?  It wasn't even really on my radar until recently.  Then I realized that it was near the top of all the "Things To Do in NYC" lists.  And since we were staying in Brooklyn, we figured it was a good opportunity to explore the area and walk the bridge.
As soon as we got to Brooklyn Heights I realized why this was popular - the view from the promenade was gorgeous!
We ate breakfast in Brooklyn Heights and then headed over to DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass).  Before we got onto the bridge we strolled around the park, did a little shopping, ate a little lunch.
Jane's Carousel goes round and round in a glass box.  The carousel was built in 1922 and was originally in Ohio but was moved to Brooklyn in 1984.  Normally I would think it was cheesy but there was something more upscale about it simply by the fact that it was encased in glass.
We wanted to get pizza at the hottest spot in town…or even from the second hottest spot.  But as you can see, the lines are outrageous.  One line is for Grimaldi's (white building on the corner) and one for Juliana's in the foreground.  I wonder if the people in the middle even know which pizza place they are in line for,  Needless to say, we didn't get pizza.
And we're on the bridge!!! It was crowded.  And there were ridiculous bikers going a million miles and hour ringing their little bells to get people out of their way.  In other words, it would have been good if it weren't for the tourists. Like most attractions.
We ended the day at the movies - appropriately enough, we saw Brooklyn.  It was terrific.  Bring tissues.
