Tuesday night at the pub one of the couples from Orchestra invited us over for dinner on Wednesday. They have friends in town (Brits who have moved to NYC) and were just doing something casual so they invited Bill, Ann Maria and me along.
I realized that this would be our first time in a normal person's house in the UK since we had tea with friends of Kats way back in May 2012 when we were house hunting. Two years in this country and no one has invited us in. I hope we don't blow it.
This is Jerry, our host. I have no idea what is going on here.
This is Matt below who is half of the UK couple living in NYC. We told him to check out the American past time of mutton bustin' (small children clinging for dear life to bucking sheep at a rodeo - if you haven't seen it, google it).
Jules, our hostess, is chatting with Ann Maria while Katrina seems to be giving me small face from across the table. We covered a lot of topics from gun control to the Housewives to US vs UK swearing.
Fortunately we seemed to remember how to act at a dinner party. I was sad when Bill said he needed to get to work early the next day so we were the first to leave some time after midnight. Bill was right, of course. Morning has come in the blink of an eye and the poor man is already off to the train, tired and over-scotched from our revelry. If this turns out to be our only invitation here, at least it was a good one.
