Victoria vs Kendal: A Big Day Out on the Pitch

We spent Saturday cheering on the Victoria Pub in a cricket match against the Duke of Kendal Pub.  This was the fifth year of their rivalry and the Victoria was itching to win back the trophy after last year's defeat.  We met Jules and Jerry outside the pub at 10:30 and headed out to Parson's Green.
The men were getting ready for battle in their cricket whites.
Chris, our pub manager and quiz master, gathered the lads for a strategy session.
Team photo.  Jules was on hand as an extra if needed and Jerry (not in photo) got talked into being an umpire.
For the next 4+ hours Jules and I sat together and she explained the game.  It took that long before I could finally make some sense of it.
Meanwhile Bill smoked his cigar and took a nap.

 The Victoria wins!!!!!!!
The Duke of Kendal hands Chris the coveted trophy which was some sort of home made bauble head - a cricket ball on a big spring on a wooden block.
Let the celebration begin!!

Time to head to the pub.  First The White Horse around the corner from the field.

There was a stag do kicking off before we left - love the heart cut out pants!!
Then it was back to the Vic for dinner and a victory parade to the Kendal for last orders.  The quality of my photographs significantly deteriorate at this point.  Bill went home for his evening cigar but Jules, Jerry and I went to watch the gloating.
It was sing along night which meant we settled in for the rest of the evening.

Chris started handing out the shots…it's been a long time since I did shots so I thought for sure these three would wreck my Sunday but I'm happy to report that I rebounded nicely after a good night's sleep and several glasses of water.  Not sure if Jerry will be able to say the same..
