You and me alone with a pine cone

My Mom asked us to pick up some pinecones for her.  She's well past the days when she can wander around the woods, so wifey and I headed to Maudsley Park in search of the elusive wild pinecone.

.
We had a little more than an hour before dark.

It was a beautiful fall afternoon.

Even though the leaves had already fallen, the park was gorgeous.  Predictably, Jen made the declaration that we have to come to the park every week.

Jen the model posed next to this tree trunk.

Whenever Jen the model really hams it up disaster inevitably happens ....

... and she's down ....
Jennie's nothing if not graceful.
Our pinecone hunting turned out all right, but it was not easy finding them.  I think we may have missed prime pinecone hunting.
We didn't have a pinecone hunting license so we had to smuggle our two bags out, hoping the Game & Pinecone Warden didn't show up.

There was still a little color left in the old park.  Jennie, on the other hand, has no blood circulation so she was pretty much colorless.  Her hands were like two little frozen dinners.
Our hunt completed.  We were not busted for the illegal export.  Mom was pleased at our take.
What a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

They sell big, cinnamon scented pinecones at Whole Foods, get Trudie some of those, too!
