Big Apple Day 2

On our second day in NYC we covered a lot of ground.
Chris' number one do or die spot was the Cook Book store in the East Village.
(While she was chatting up the owner I was out shopping the boutiques and wound up witnessing a shop lifter.  He was thwarted  by the sales clerk and I didn't get any pictures.  That would have been great for the blog - sorry!)
Lunch at Housingworks Bookstore/Cafe.
Everything looks better in black and white, doesn't it?  The balcony level makes me think of Daunt Books in London. Remember when I lived in London?
OK, the real destination of the day was The Doughnut Project.  Jana's friends opened this little eatery 2 weeks ago and already it's taking the NYC foodie scene by storm.  They've had several days of selling out early for the day.  Check out the selection - this is not your average doughnut shot.  I have to admit that I would never willingly order an Olive Oil and Black Pepper doughnut but when the owner (Troy) gave us one…it was deeeeeelish!
But Olive Oil and Black Pepper is nothing compared to the Bacon Maple Bar.  You read that right - bacon on top of a doughnut. Honestly, how can that be anything but amazing?  If you added bacon to a brillo pad you'd eat it, and you know you would so don't deny it!

The others were also scrumptious - Beet and Ricotta and Salted Chocolate….well, I personally didn't like the chocolate because it was too chocolatey and I don't like chocolate but Jana and Chris gave it a thumbs up.
Wait - it's taken me this long to post a selfie??  What is wrong with me??
If you are in NYC go to the village and get a doughnut.  You will not be disappointed.
We ended the night at a bar that plays Seattle sports on TV…the Sounders were playing Dallas.  Jana and her daughter Meshel needed to see the game or they were in danger of imploding.
And THIS is what a Sounders win looks like.  The Seattle gals were ecstatic.
It was technically day 3 by the time we got home…which means we have more adventures in store for you!
