It's Yankee Homecoming and that can only mean one thing....bed races!! I love this tradition of local stores and organizations pushing a decorated bed down the street while everyone watches and cheers. This year had a great showing with a full hour of competition. Here are the entries from The Old South Church, the Coast Guard, and the Nbpt Education Foundation (referencing the movie Waiting for Superman).
But this is my favorite thing about the event - a guy set up a keyboard on the side street opposite Atwood and played music the whole time. He was great and it totally added to the festivities.
Next year the Newburyport Period Piece Movie Society (aka Denise, Christin and I ) may need to have an entry...we will wear empire waist dresses and push a canopy bed.
