I (heart) Harvard Square

Stacey and I met in Harvard Square tonight to see author Allegra Goodman at the Harvard Suqare Bookstore. Allegra was charming and completely entertaining (although Stacey and I both admitted to being glad that her reading was light and on the short side - we prefer the Q&A). I'm sure Allegra thinks I'm a celebrity being followed by the paparazzi since Stacey was never actually introduced to her but just shot the pic once I was in position.

Stacey and I had a variety of pre and post reading drinks/nosh and on our way back to our cars we noticed this group of men sitting on the side walk in folding chairs watching the Red Sox on a TV set up in Cardullo's window.

I love that you can go to a literary reading and then walk down the street and see the locals camped out to watch TV in a storefront window. I can never get enough Harvard Square.

I am so glad that the cloud of terribleness that seemed to be slowly destroying Harvard Square (ie closure of Wordsworth, the Tasty, Ellsie's, Pizzeria Regina, a place I've forgotten the name of that sold comic books and movie posters etc) seems to have dissipated of late. The Harvard Book Store changed ownership without a hiccup last year and Cardullo's still has the best selection of fancy chocolate bars in the eastern hemisphere.
