What if we owned this one?

New York city brownstone, complete with matching scooter. Jen and I would look good sitting on the steps, drinking a midday cocktail and planning our next meal one of the hundreds of little eateries that know us by name.
What am I saying, we have just as good a life together in Newburyport now.
(although I'd look great on that scooter)

A Very New York Breakfast

Sunday morning with the Times and a big breakfast. I liked the hash browns much better than the cover shot of Scott Brown.

We need one of these...

Newburyport parking issue.... solved.

It's like the entire city is in the ballet

The women in NYC wear tights without covering their bum.
We went to a restaurant for lunch where all the waitresses showed off their tights-covered bums. I love New York.

Fois Gras for the Homeless

Arrived in NYC for our weekend getaway. I keep getting told that I look homeless in my outfit. It's not fair. Do the homeless carry orange luggage? Our townhouse is outside of Washington Park. Below is a picture of Jen after she pushed a little kid away from her snowman. The kid is being consoled by her mother in the background.

We had the most fabulous dinner last night. We ate the tasting menu at Gotham. Seven amazing courses including Oyster Bisque, Fois Gras, Caviar, Scallop and Lobster. My description will never do justice to it, but this was the best meal I've ever had. http://www.gothambarandgrill.com/content/view/15/

If it ain't food, it's weather

Bill always warns me that we have the potential to write too frequently about food. What we just ate, what we wish we were eating, what we can't wait to eat. I like food.

But the real danger is that I could write every day about weather. Today's typhoon is just begging to be blogged about. Wind gust of 60+ mph mean that we should take the chairs in but instead Bill just turned 3 of the 4 chairs upside down. Is chair #4 a test?

Below is the basement taking on water like the Poseidon Adventure. Any minute now Shelly Winters is going to swim out of a puddle. There's got to be a morning after....

Incognito

Bill and I would make good spies. Does anyone have any spy work they need done? Can we do it from our couch under comfy blankets?

Mrs. Fly's daydream

Handsome Bill as seen by a fly.....

shame

This is our bedroom television.
We turn it on and off with a pen. The pen also controls the volume. I am hoping this post shames us into getting a new television for the bedroom....

Having a pen as a control nob on your television is not shameful. Being able to afford a new television and still having that damn pen nob, is.

Bedtime on Atwood

Pink pillows for Bill, flannel for me & Petey and all of it fair game for Noodles' 3 AM pillow stroll.

mmmmm....beer

Beer makes you feel the way you ought to feel without beer.

Extended our weekend by having a drink at the pub tonight. Jennie looks good in a pub. Then again, Jennie looks good in the hub, she looks good in a club, she looks good in a sub and she definitely looks good in a tub.

Adventures in babysitting

Whitney and Aron hesitated when I offered to babysit Daisy. Some parents are overprotective...

Even Yonah Schimmel is on Facebook

Among the many topics covered at the Connaughton/Pressman Kitchen Christening were Michael Jackson, Tiger Woods, The Hangover, Ricky Gervais, Yonah Schimmel and his downtown knishes....followed by Arctic Monkeys, Glenlivit, and a peek at the Jen & Bill blog in the man cave. Are you guys looking at this?

Bill, get me my big beach blanket...no, the other one....

Petey had a brilliant day at the beach.
Despite her complaints about the wind and the dirty seagulls and the lack of good wine and the sand in her bum she really had a wonderful time.

Two of Jen's Desert Island Must Haves

Pizza and Bill - couldn't live without them.

glad handing with our peeps

Jen was out late at Noelle and Tim's. Joey was at a team dinner and laser tag event. And I got together with the former Rational gang. We're such a cosmopolitan family.

Hen Night Shyamalan

Jennie had the girls over for book club tonight. Oprah came and hogged the spotlight. She talked over everyone.
Oprah will not be invited back.

Here's mud in your eye

...or in this case - cat drool! Noodles made a direct hit from her Snoopy-vulture perch on my pillow into my open orb this morning. Gelatinous ooze and swelling soon followed, confirming my allergy to cat saliva.

Workin' at the carwash...yeah....

It was a springlike 40 degrees today so Bill enlisted Joey for a father-son car wash and stogey-smoke. (No stogey for Joey) Of course, tomorrow we are due for 4-7 inches of wet snow but for today the cars glistened in the sunlight.

Valentines Day

cuddling on the porch
who would choose the former over the latter?
We made lemonade out of lemons. Purple Onion was inexplicably closed, so we went to The Port Tavern and had liquor!
We capped the evening by taking in a movie, Sherlock Holmes. A lovely Valentines Day indeed.

day with mummy

We had a lovely day with Mum. We exchanged Christmas gifts in the morning. then we went to Lark Street in search of cool. We forgot we were in Albany.
Later we built some makeshift shelves for the mystery section in the Library of Entwistle. It was sad to drive away today.

ewwwwwwwwww

I procrastinated....

What may be done at any time will be done at no time. ~Scottish Proverb

Procrastination is something best put off until tomorrow. ~Gerald Vaughan

Someday is not a day of the week. ~Author Unknown

Shut the F*&$ up Procrastinator-quote-people. ~Bill

Jennie called me out today. Said I was a procrastinator because I waited until the last minute to draw Mother's annual rat picture. Tomorrow I'm going to think about what she meant by that.

Definitely Not 1-800-Flowers

Why do tulips grow after they are cut? Regardless, it makes for an interesting arrangement.

The Weather That Wasn't

We were stood up by a nor'easter today. 12 inches were predicted...we got none. The weathermen need to decide whether or not there will be weather tomorrow.

Weak Sauce

This year's Tiger Den was a weak effort. I blame the school's announcement before every game to be good quiet fans. They over managed it.

smarter than you

I read the Wall Street Journal daily, which makes me smarter than you....
(today I read an article on Betty White getting tackled in a SuperBowl ad)

the day after

The aftermath of Lisa and Steve's visit Saturday night.

Bonus Post

An added bonus!! Extra shots from the night with Lisa and Steve....

Family Food Friends Fun

Today started with music. Singing in bed lead to a family breakfast at Mad Martha's on Plum Island.

Then we spent the afternoon getting the house ready for Lisa and Steve to come for dinner:
Conversations covered everything from cheese and politics to an*l bleaching and the SAG awards. Good times.

76 Days Until Festivus

Filling the holes in the schedule for the fifth annual Newburyport Literary Festival. Rejected authors include Monkey and Other Monkey who ghost wrote the book "Brown Spots on the Wall" by Woo Flung Poo.

VP Bill

Bill's day as VP of HR was almost perfect. I fired someone. I drank champagne. Everyone did my bidding.
The only flaw was those monkeys.

Schwartz wouldn't have done it

Jen gets her ear stuck on the new panini maker box.
She was triple-dog-dared to do it.

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Who wears short shorts?

Bill is sick still, but feels a little better knowing Jennie has a new pair of boy short panties.

Noodley Poodley

Noodles poo'd outside her litter box tonight.
That was sad enough, but on top of that Jen thought it was me.
